Track And Field Senior Salute: Melinda Murdock

The University of Memphis track and field/cross country program's celebration of its 2018 senior class continues with the 18^th of the 23 Tigers seniors.

Monday's first senior salute is Melinda Murdock.

Hometown: Bryant, Ark.

Career Highlights

Ran primarily in the hurdles and sprints her final two years as a Tiger
Also a member of the cross country program (2014, 2015) early in her career
Competed in her fourth American Athletic Conference Championships (indoor/outdoor combined) this past weekend
Ran in the 400-meter hurdles and advanced to the event finals, where she placed fifth
Posted a personal-best time of 1:00.35 in the 400-meter finals at conference meet
Set personal-bests in her last two runs in the 400-meter hurdles, recording a 1:00.47 in the event preliminaries before her 1:00.35 in the finals at the league championships
Also posted a fifth-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2016 conference outdoor meet
Had 14 career top-three performances in all of her events combined (indoor/outdoor), including two 400-meter hurdles titles at the 2016 and 2018 Memphis Invitationals
Ran in two American Athletic Conference and NCAA South Region championships races for cross country in 2014 and 2015
Best 6k time was 23:14.6 at the 2015 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships
Three-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honoree
Graduated from the University of Memphis May 5 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in management
