Memphis to Host Jackson State for Wednesday Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis softball (15-24, 4-11 AAC) returns to Tiger Softball Complex for a nonconference game on Wednesday against Jackson State (19-17, 9-5 SWAC).
The midweek game is set for a 5 p.m. start and will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Dave Woloshin on the call.
SCOUTING THE MEMPHIS TIGERS
Memphis looks to get back on track after falling to East Carolina in a sweep and having lost nine of its last 10 games.
Neely Taylor continues to lead the Tiger offense with a .342 batting average. She has totaled 40 hits and seven doubles in her 39 starts this season, a mark that also leads the team. Ariel Davis has stepped into a starting role at third base for Memphis and has a hit in six of her last seven games. She sits at a .297 average with three doubles, two triples and a home run on the season.
Zoe Adebayo enters the midweek as the only qualified Memphis batter with an OPS above 1.000. She holds a .320 batting average with 17 extra-base hits and 23 walks, both numbers that lead the team.
In the circle, Rylee Dugar holds the team lead in ERA (4.06), wins (5) and strikeouts (46), while Lyrical Bennett has moved into the lead in innings pitched (77.2) and complete games (5). Bennett recorded two complete-game performances this past weekend at East Carolina.

Most recently, Jackson State lost a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Florida A&M, taking the first game before dropping the final two.
Jackson State is led by three strong bats in the trio of Jace Jackson, Ka'Liyah Gipson and Mead Almaraz. Jackson and Gipson have batting averages above the .400 mark, while Gipson's 36 stolen bases are tied for the third-highest mark nationally. She also has the highest stolen bases per game mark in the NCAA at 1.18. Almaraz has 13 extra-base hits on the season with a 1.020 OPS and is the only player to have appeared in all 36 games for Jackson State this season.
As a staff, Jackson State allows 4.68 earned runs per game, with Brooklyn Morris holding a team-best 4.25 ERA. Her 36 strikeouts and 80.2 innings pitched also lead Jackson State.
