Tiger Tuesday: August 15
Aug 15, 2017 | Tiger Tuesday
Headlines for Tiger fans every Tuesday at 2:00.

Good afternoon from the second floor of the Athletic Office Building! This is Assistant AD for Communications Tammy DeGroff again and here are five headlines I think Tiger fans may want to see this week:
1. Football season ticket pick-up is underway and single game tickets are on sale -- We had a great crowd at our UofM Lambuth scrimmage. Thanks again to everyone who came. If you've already ordered season tickets, they are ready to be picked up now. See our complete schedule on the graphic below. If you don't have season tickets (or haven't found our Select Three program for ANY three home games), check www.GoTigersGo.com/FootballTickets. Single game tickets can also be purchased for any of our seven home games from that link or by calling our (really busy this week) ticket office at 901-678-2331!
Â

2. Fall sports are full speed ahead -- Just in case we weren't sure, summer is officially over in the Athletic Office Building. Women's soccer opens its regular season at home this weekend with a Friday night match (7 pm) against Samford and a Sunday match (also at 7 pm) against Little Rock. Both matches will be played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Collierville and admission is FREE! Â As I mentioned last week, the women's soccer team was picked to win the American this year and junior forward Marie Levasseur was named to a preseason team by TopDrawerSoccer.Â
The men's soccer team opened its preseason camp last Wednesday and since we caught up with the women's team on their opening day here last week, here is the interview with the men's team on their opening day. Coach Mulrooney also talks a bit about why the soccer programs are excited to have home matches played at the Park Avenue Campus this season (spoiler alert, hopefully first of many more!). Â
Â
Tiger volleyball is the final fall sport underway and will have a pair of scrimmages in the next eight days for fans to come see what this year's team is looking like. On Saturday, the team will scrimmage at 11 am and will host a free Youth Clinic afterwards at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse (495 Zach Curlin). You can sign a permission slip at the clinic and sign up there. We have a quick Q&A with Coach April Jauregui (who was a player at Memphis in my first year here) that you can read HERE (while I go feel my age).Â
3. We know it's never too early to talk basketball for our fans, so here's a quick scheduling note. We don't have the conference schedule yet, but  we already know we have a trio of Tiger basketball doubleheaders. On Nov. 25, the football team will play its final regular season home game against East Carolina and the men's basketball team will host Northern Kentucky. No times yet on that one, but we already know that day will be full of Tigers.
With the Grizzlies schedule being announced yesterday, there are also a pair of Tigers/Grizzlies doubleheaders if you want to book a full day downtown. On Dec. 9 and Dec. 23, both the Tigers men's team and the Grizzlies will play at FedExForum in a basketball doubleheader. Make it a day and do both! Hopefully we'll see a conference schedule soon and can start getting some TV game times sorted (we're just as anxious, I promise!). If you want to get to know some of the Tigers' men's basketball players, our Memphis Tiger Network crew has done a Q&A with most of the team over the summer. You can watch those videos on our YouTube page HERE.Â
4. Specialists: This is the third full year I've spent with Tiger football and I've learned a few things along the way...one of them: I don't know if specialists everywhere are like this, but now-Cincinnati Bengal kicker Jake Elliott busting on current Tiger (and Aussie) punter Nick Jacobs on Twitter as part of Tom Schad's (from the Memphis Commercial Appeal) weekly mailbag is Awesome. Senior running back Doroland Dorceus apparently agrees.Â
Â

5. Heads up for former Tigers. If you were a Tiger student-athlete, spirit squad member or student athletic trainer, the M Club Hall of Fame ballot has is assembled and is heading to our current M Club Members. The M Club (made up of former Tigers) votes in a class each year, so if you want to get your vote in, be sure to sign up for the M Club with Bob Winn. You can email him at bwinn@memphis.edu. In addition to your votes, there is also some free hospitality at Tiger football and basketball games and some special events the M Club coordinates that can reunite you with some of your former teammates.Â
5A (because for a second straight week, I can't count to five): Speaking of former Tigers, the Commercial Appeal ran a story on former Tigers' quarterback Darrell Martin. You can read about that HERE or on the GoFundMe.com page (HERE) that has been set up to help him in his treatment at Mayo Clinic. Get well Tiger! OnceATigerAlwaysATiger TigerFam
