Tiger Tuesday: September 20
Sep 20, 2017 | Tiger Tuesday
The Wednesday edition

Good afternoon Tiger fans from the Athletic Communications Suite in the Athletic Office Building and welcome to the Wednesday edition of Tiger Tuesdays (I know). This is Tammy DeGroff and here are a few things I think you may want to see (let's see if I can pick just five this week).
1. Tigers Everywhere
In case you missed it (!), football is coming off a win that drew some national attention. The 11 a.m. ABC timeslot is fastly becoming a favorite for our football program, as we've now picked up wins over ranked opponents in that slot for a third straight season. That meant as soon as the game was done, we started fielding national media requests on Saturday. So far, Coach Norvell has done four national radio interviews, and we had players on some regional and national hits as well. Riley Fergsuon was on ESPN Sports Center on Tuesday morning (part of why Tiger Tuesday is really being posted on Wednesday, so I can include the link below).Â
You can also catch coach Norvell's Jim Rome Interview HEREÂ and Anthony Miller's interview with The All-American (Chris Vannini did the behind-the-scenes piece with Coach Norvell a couple of weeks ago) HERE. Coach Norvell will make one last national radio call on Thursday on the Paul Finebaum Show on ESPN Radio. I'll tweet a link when I see it from our TigersAthletics Twitter account.Â
2. Moving On
But, now we've put away the UCLA game and move on to Homecoming and a game against a Southern Illinois team that is averaging 45 points and giving up just 10 points a game. Â There are a number of Homecoming festivities planned this week, including a parade on campus Friday at 5:30 p.m. The parade route can be found below and the complete calendar of events can be found HERE.

3. The APP is live.
We had an interesting start to the academic year. Just weeks before the fall started, we were informated that the company created and hosted our old app (yes, the one that appears in your season ticket book) was going out of business. So after a mad scramble to find a host and then to get the app programmed, our iOS version of the App is now live (i-Phones, i-Pads, etc.). The Android version is still in development, but since the iOS version was ready, we launched that. You can find us in in the iTunes app store under Official Memphis Tigers (or here). If you are at a game, you can pull up the live stats as we are typing them in from the press box. If you're not at the game, you can still listen to audio and video and read some of the stuff we put together to tell our Tigers' stories. Because the app is hosted by the same company that hosts GoTigersGo.com, it's pretty seamless access to all of our stuff online.
4. Conference play beginning
A couple of our fall teams are rolling in to conference play this weekend. Volleyball is up in the Northeast, playing at UConn and at Temple, while women's soccer returns home after a tough West-coast swing and hosts SMU, Thursday, at Mike Rose Soccer Complex and Houston, Sunday, at the Park Avenue Campus. The Sunday match will be a first look at the new set up on the Park Avenue Campus for our soccer programs. Phase one was the new soccer surface inside the track. Phase two will be stands, a press box and lights so we can play matches there all-season. Admission is free for both women's soccer matches, so come check out the team picked to win the American.Â
5. Women's golf back in action after winning fall opener.
The women's golf team is back on the course this weekend at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University in South Carolina. As part of the event, they are trying to compete in an off-the-course fundraiser benefiting Golf Fore Africa. That foundation provides clean water to people who need it the most. This year's challenge is to raise money for new wells in Zambia. Memphis is currently third at $707.50 and Coach Harrelson and her team are trying to raise $1,000 before the event kicks off on Thursday. If you want to learn more about the challenge, click HERE.
Memphis won their first event at Missouri State two weeks ago and junior Michaela Fletcher captured individual medalist honors, finishing as the lone competitor under par in the 90-player field. It's a young squad for head coach Beth Harrelson (left). Emily Goldenstein (center) is the lone senior on the squad.Â
