Tigers Return Home for Midweek Clash with Lipscomb

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis (3-12) baseball team will take on Lipscomb (6-8) at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
This will be the 7th all-time meeting between the two programs, with the series tied 3-3. The Tigers and Bisons most recently met on March 19 of last year in Memphis. The Tigers fell to the Bisons 4-3 in 10 innings in that game.
Memphis (3-12) is coming off three losses at Missouri State over the weekend. On Friday, Memphis fell 12-5 to the Bisons, who hit six home runs in the game. On Saturday, Michael Gupton collected four RBIs, but the Tigers gave up 10 runs in the first three innings and fell 14-5. Gupton had another four-RBI day on Sunday, becoming the first Memphis player to have back-to-back four-RBI games since Hunter Goodman in 2020. Memphis found itself down 10-1 at one point in the game, before coming within one run twice, ultimately falling 13-12.
The Tigers swiped another seven bags during the weekend, bringing their total to 35 on the season. Memphis ranks first in the American Conference in stolen bases and 29th nationally. Third baseman Freddy Rodriguez leads the team with nine and is ranked 37th nationally.
Memphis has now hit 17 home runs on the season, good for 83rd in the nation. Center fielder Michael Gupton leads the team with five after hitting two more last weekend.
Infielder Shane Cox has been Memphis' top offensive performer to start the season. Cox leads the team in batting average (.391), hits (25) and doubles (6). Cox also has a hit in 14 of 15 games thus far.
Lipscomb (6-8) got swept by No. 4 Mississippi State last weekend. On Friday they suffered an 8-3 loss and followed the performance with a similar performance on Saturday, falling 9-4. The Bisons closed out the weekend by getting run-ruled 26-0 in seven innings in Starkville.
RHP Seth Impson (1-0, 7.94 ERA) will make his second start this season after pitching 11.1 innings in his first three appearances. The Bisons will throw RHP Cody Underwood (0-0, 12.00 ERA), who has pitched three innings allowing five runs on three hits so far this season.
Lipscomb is led offensively by Aaron Stelogeannis (20 H / 1.033 OPS / 7 RBI), Damion Kenealy Jr. (16 H / 4 2B / 13 RBI) and Brady Miller (13 BB / 11 H / 5 RBI). The Bisons rank 40th in the nation in triples with five so far this season.
