Tigers Overcome Four-Run Deficit to Take Series Finale Against Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis (11-24, 2-10 American) softball team avoided a sweep with a 7-6 win over Tulsa (12-21, 4-8 American) thanks in part to a pair of home runs by Faith Brown and Jasmine Mack, along with five scoreless innings from Mya Clark to shut the door.
Memphis went down 6-2 through two innings and pushed back with one in the third and a four-run fifth inning to take the final game of the weekend and avoid being swept for the third time this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Memphis will host Ole Miss (23-15, 2-10 SEC) for a nonconference matchup on Tuesday before traveling to Birmingham for a conference series against UAB (15-21, 3-9 American), set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday in The Magic City.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tulsa scored two runs early, both unearned after a Memphis error.
- Daeya Moses recorded a sacrifice fly and Mackenzy Glenn recorded an RBI single for the Golden Hurricane.
- Memphis answered back with a pair of runs in the first.
- Ariel Davis found outfield grass for an RBI single to bring Neely Taylor around to score.
- After a double steal by Davis and Faith Brown, Jasmine Mack hit a bloop single down the left-field line to tie the game at two runs apiece.
- The Golden Hurricane jumped back out to a four-run lead in the second inning.
- Another sacrifice fly, this time by Faith Russell, helped Tulsa regain the lead.
- Claira Skaggs logged a two-RBI double and Moses followed up with an RBI single of her own.
- The Tigers got one back on an RBI groundout by Jasmine Mack in the third.
- Memphis jumped into the lead on a pair of two-run home runs in the fifth inning by Faith Brown and Jasmine Mack.
- Memphis recorded four hits in the inning, with the other two being singles by Deana Cunningham and Ariel Davis.
- After entering in the third inning, Mya Clark only allowed four baserunners across the final five innings en route to earning her second victory of the season.
- With two more today, Memphis' home run total reaches 28, moving the 2026 squad into sixth place in single-season home runs.
- Faith Brown was 3-for-3 on the day with a two-run home run and a stolen base, also logging two runs scored.
