Tigers Fall in Midweek Bout Against Ole Miss

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis (11-25, 2-10 American) softball team fell by a score of 10-0 to Ole Miss (24-15, 2-10 SEC) Tuesday evening at Tigers Softball Complex.
Memphis kept Ole Miss to just two runs through four innings, but a pair of four-spots by the Rebels led to the double-digit deficit.

Memphis travels to UAB (16-21, 3-9 American) for a Thursday-Saturday series in Birmingham with first pitches set for 5:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Memphis worked through a tight situation in the second, making a play on an errant throw back to the pitcher to nab Ole Miss' Ryan Starr attempting to advance to third.
- Ariel Davis was Memphis' first baserunner of the game with a walk to lead off the second inning.
- A pair of walks and a single for the Rebels was followed by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cassie Reasner to give Ole Miss a one-run lead.
- Kennedy Semien walked in the third and was sacrificed over to second by Jaila Mitchell but was the second out in a lineout double play to end the inning.
- An RBI double by the Rebels' Kennedy Bunker gave Ole Miss a two-run lead after four innings.
- Ole Miss stretched its lead to six runs with a pair of home runs in the fifth, a three-run shot by Reasner and a pinch-hit home run by Taylor Roman to go back-to-back in the inning.
- Kennedy Semien reached again in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out double down the right-field line but was stranded to end the inning.
- Taylor Caton worked through a bases-loaded situation with no outs by inducing a pair of popouts and a fielder's choice.
- The bases became loaded on a pair of walks and a Memphis fielding error.
- Ole Miss went into double digits on an RBI single by Persy Llamas and a three-run home run by Reasner in the seventh inning.
- Jasmine Mack singled in the bottom of the seventh and advanced to third, and Mya Clark followed with a walk.
