Tigers Fall in Tight Contest to Mean Green

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team fell in a tightly-contested game to North Texas, 2-0, on Friday night at Tiger Softball Complex.
The Tigers (5-35, 1-18 AAC) fought hard against the Mean Green (26-19, 13-6 AAC), playing a clean game, and allowing just two runs. Abigail Morgan paced Memphis in the circle, notching three strikeouts in the matchup.
North Texas 2, Memphis 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
• North Texas got on the board first on a one-out sacrifice fly to second base in the top of the second inning.
• The Tigers notched their first hit of the night off the bat of Marley Maness in the bottom of the second. Maness advanced on a sacrifice bunt before North Texas closed the inning with a double play.
• The Mean Green struck again in the top of the fourth as Rainey came in to score on a sac-fly to center field.
• Kelsie Adams reached first on a fielder's choice in the bottom sixth inning. She advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before being left stranded to close the frame.
• The Tiger defense retired the Mean Green in the top of the seventh and looked to rally. However, Memphis came up empty handed.
NOTABLES
• Two Tigers recorded two hits in the game: Taniyah Brown and Maness.
• Morgan made her fifth start of the season and went seven innings, striking out three.
