Tigers Travel to Big Easy for Series with New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Memphis baseball team hits the road this weekend for a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, for a three-game series at the University of New Orleans, Friday through Sunday.
Maestri Field will play host to the first-ever meeting between the Tigers (9-10) and Privateers (8-8). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. for Sunday's finale with all three games available to stream on ESPN+.
Memphis is coming off a midweek sweep with wins at home over North Alabama (16-2) on Tuesday night and Arkansas State (13-7) on Wednesday night. RHP Cade Davis pitched excellent on Tuesday, striking out a career-high seven batters en route to his first win as a Tiger as Memphis put up 16 runs and ended the game via run rule in seven innings. The Tigers posted another 13 runs on Wednesday as Austin Baskin notched a four-hit game and extended his on-base streak to 32 games dating back to last season.
Tiger infielder Daunte Stuart is off to a hot start this season, batting .303 with a team-leading 21 runs scored and ranks second on the squad with 23 hits. The Bahamas native has reached base safely in all 19 games to begin the season and has hit safely in 13-straight games. Pierre Seals enters the weekend with a team-high .328 batting average and 1.134 OPS to go along with six home runs and 14 RBI.
Baskin leads the Tigers in hits (25) and recorded the fifth four-hit night of his career and sixth multi-hit game of the season on Wednesday night. Jacob Compton has slugged a team-best eight home runs (tied for AAC lead) and driven in the most runs on the team (21). Tiger center fielder Will Marcy missed the first four games of the year due to injury but is hitting .345 with four doubles and six steals since he joined the Memphis lineup.
Memphis will roll out its same weekend rotation for the fifth week in a row, going with RHP David Warren (1-1, 3.74 ERA) on Friday, LHP Luke Ellis (0-1, 6.19 ERA) on Saturday and RHP Caden Robinson (1-1, 7.00 ERA) on Sunday. The Privateers will counter with LHP Colton Mercer (1-2, 7.79 ERA), RHP Grant Edwards (1-1, 5.57 ERA) and RHP Caleb Seroski (2-1, 5.40 ERA).
Offensively, New Orleans is led by Mitchell Sanford (.359 BA, 3 HR, 7 2B, 21 RBI) and Victor Castillo (.341 BA, 4 HR, 13 RBI) and have four Privateers in total batting over .300.
