Streak Ends for No. 38 Tigers With 5-2 Loss to No. 50 Utah

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 38 University of Memphis women's tennis team fell 5-2 to the No. 50 Utah Utes Sunday morning at Leftwich Tennis Center.

The defeat halted a five-match win streak for the Tigers (9-4), who suffered their first defeat at home.

The match started heavily contested as the Tigers fought hard for the doubles point, however, Utah came out on top winning 6-4 on court one and 7-5 on court two.

In singles action, Utah (7-3) continued its momentum sweeping at the fifth, third, and sixth positions to clinch the victory before the Tigers could get on the board.

Leonie Moeller continued her strong season by sweeping Utah's Kaila Barksdale 6-4, 6-2 to improve to 9-1 on the year at No. 2 singles. Camila Soares rounded out the day after coming from being to win 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) on the top line.

UP NEXT
The Tigers are back on the road next weekend for a pair of matches. They will first travel to Chicago to take on Northwestern at 4 p.m. Friday before heading over to College Park to take on Maryland at 1 p.m. Sunday.
