No. 48 Tigers Fall On the Road at No. 53 Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – The No. 48 University of Memphis women's tennis team fell 4-1 on the road to No. 53 Northwestern Friday evening in Evanston, Illinois.
The Tigers dropped to 9-5 with the defeat, while the Wildcats improved to 9-5.
"I am proud of the efforts today," Memphis head coach Hayden Perez said. "Northwestern was a tough opponent and they played tough in a few key moments. Our girls fought hard, and that's all we can ask for.
"We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete on Sunday. Go Tigers Go."
Memphis and Northwestern got doubles action going with each side winning a matchup. The Wildcats took a 6-1 decision on court three before Camila Soares and Leonie Moeller followed suit on court one, 6-2. After a back-and-forth battle, the Wildcats clinched the point at the second position with a 7-5 win.
In singles action, the Wildcats extended their lead to 3-0 with sweeps on the top two lines before Alice Amendola brought home the only Tiger point of the match from court five with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
Northwestern closed out the night with the clinch point in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-3) on court four.
UP NEXT
The Tigers head over to College Park to take on Maryland at 1 p.m. Sunday.
