Memphis Falls to No. 38 Ole Miss in Regular Season Finale

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 45 Ole Miss on Tuesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
Memphis battled early in doubles play, but Ole Miss secured the opening point with wins on courts one and three. The Rebels claimed court three by default before sealing the point with a 6-4 victory on court one. The match on court two between Alicia Mall/Clemence Thouard and Ole Miss' Alice Soulie/Riley Crowder was left unfinished at 5-5.
In singles, Ole Miss carried its momentum, picking up three straight points to clinch the match. The Rebels earned victories on courts six, four and one to secure the team win.
On court one, Sofiia Mykhailets faced No. 18 Emily Welker and fell in straight sets. Clemence Thouard retired during her match on court four after dropping the opening set, while court six was decided by default in favor of Ole Miss.
Several Tigers showed resilience in unfinished matches. Emma Dvorackova claimed the opening set on court three before play was halted. Marina Lubsheva also competed on court five, with her match remaining unfinished.
Memphis falls to 2-16 and will come home to prepare for the American Conference Championship. The tournament begins Thursday, April 16, in Houston, Texas.
