Tigers Pick Up Road Win in Little Rock
Mar 14, 2023 | Baseball
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Memphis baseball team defeated UA-Little Rock, 3-2, at Gary Hogan Field on Tuesday afternoon. Lefty Luke Ellis earned the win for the Tigers and improved to 1-1 on the year while Dalton Kendrick picked up his fourth save of the season.
With the win, Memphis improved to 9-8 on the season and snapped a six-game losing skid. The Trojans saw their five-game winning streak come to an end and fell to 9-5 on the season.
"Great overall win today," head coach Kerrick Jackson said. "We played clean baseball and had good pitching performances. One mistake by Glenn [Green III] there, but that happens. The guys came back and picked him up. We answered, pushed another run across and then DK comes in and shuts it down. Hopefully this win pushes us in the right direction, and we start playing cleaner baseball moving forward."

• Left-handed reliever Daniel Casto relieved Robinson and threw three scoreless innings of his own. Casto allowed a pair of hits and struck out two Trojans to keep zeroes on the board.
• Little Rock tied the game in the seventh inning on a two-run homerun off the bat of Ty Rhoades after four foul balls in a two-strike count.
• Memphis answered in the top of the eighth when it loaded the bases to set up a sac-fly to right field by RJ Jimerson, scoring Anthony Hansen from third to regain the lead, 3-2.
• The Trojans loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth before 6-foot-5 Tiger lefty Dalton Kendrick entered and got Memphis out of the jam unscathed with a pair of quick punch outs. Kendrick finished the game for the Tigers in the ninth and picked up his fourth save of the season.
