Knights Blank Tigers in Second Game of Series

ORLANDO, Fla. – After dropping their opening game to #23 UCF on Friday night, the Tigers came in looking to hand the Knights their first AAC loss of the season. But, early runs from UCF and their steady defense held Memphis scoreless and handed them the 6-0 loss.
Following today's game, Memphis moves to 15-25 overall and 1-7 in AAC play.

How it happened:
- The Knights opened the game with runs in the bottom of the first and second innings to take an early 4-0 lead.
- Linsey Hargis and Hannah Bassham would reach base in the top of the second inning after Hargis drew a walk and Bassham singled down the left field line to put them at first and second base. But, UCF's defense would strand the runners after a ground out to the pitcher.
- Memphis would get Gracie Morton all the way to third base in the top of the sixth inning after she laid down a bunt and advanced on a sac bunt from Alyssa Dean and an error by the Knight's at third base. The Tigers would not be able to fend past UCF's defense and left Morton and Kendall Lee on first and third.
- UCF would add a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to take the 6-0 win.
- Gracie Morton, Aliana Zavala and Hannah Bassham all recorded hits today while Linsey Hargis and LaNya Bates both reached on walks.
- Hallie Siems got the start today going 1.2 innings. Kailey Hilderbrand and Jenna Gibson finished the remaining 4.1 innings of work.
- Memphis will finish their series with the Knights tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. Coverage of the game can be found on ESPN+.
- The Tigers will be back in the Bluff City next weekend when they host Tulsa for an AAC series. Play begins on Thursday night at 5 p.m. at the Tiger Softball Complex.
