Prior to Memphis/Personal

- Was a four-year letter-winner in softball and cheerleading at Grand Blanc High School
- On the diamond, Bates earned First-Team All-State honors in 2019 and an honorable mention nod in 2018
- Also earned All-District, All-Region and All-Conference for four-straight seasons in softball and cheer
- Helped lead her team in 2019 to the District Championship and a 27-10 overall record
- Finished with a .600 batting average as a junior, with 13 doubles, 13 triples and only two strikeouts at the plate
- As a senior, posted a .560 batting average with an on-base percentage of .628
- Also recorded 13 doubles, nine triples, three home runs and 42 RBI as a senior
- Named the Al Serra Player of the Week for Genesee County as well as the MLive Player of the Week
