MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After clawing back into the game time and time again Monday night, the Memphis Tigers (16-16, 3-6) tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning and picked up a 5-4 win over the Murray State Racers (18-17, 4-8) on CF Zach Wilson's ninth inning walk-off home run. How it happened:
- After each team threatened in the first inning and was scoreless through two frames, the Racers opened up the scoring on a two-run double by SS Drew Vogel in the third
- The Tigers responded in the home half of the inning, as RF Blake Daniels drew a leadoff walk off of LHP Alex Jarrell (ND), while 3B Logan Kohler made it 2-1 with a two-out RBI single
- Murray State's first two hitters in the fourth inning picked up hits off of LHP Jacob Gilmore (ND), as LF Carson Garner doubled, and RF Seth Gardner made it 3-1 Murray State with an RBI single
- Once again, the Tigers answered right away, as 2B Austin Baskin led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk, while Daniels pulled Memphis back within one at 3-2 with a two-out RBI double
- The Racers tagged Casto for a run in the sixth on a two-out RBI double by CF Jake Slunder, but the Memphis lefty allowed just one more hit over his four innings of work
- Down 4-2 at the seventh inning stretch, the Tigers got a two-out RBI double by Kohler in the seventh that made it a one run game, while an RBI single in the eighth by 1B Chris Swanberg tied the game 4-4
- After Naranjo got the final out of the eighth and stranded a runner at second base, he retired the leadoff hitter in the ninth before Wilson's blast to left-centerfield gave the Tigers the 5-4 walk-off win
Notables:
- Wilson's walk-off home run was Memphis' first since April 6, 2019
- With two hits, Kohler recorded his 12th multi-hit game of the season, the most on the team
- Kohler also had two RBIs for his team-leading eighth multi-RBI game of the season
- Casto's four-inning outing was the longest of his collegiate career
- LF Ian Bibiloni and SS Ben Brooks each extended their hit streaks to seven games
- Daniels reached base twice and extended his on-base streak to nine games
