Tigers Hit the Road for AAC Series at Houston

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Â After their mid-week game at North Alabama got postponed due to inclement weather in the Mid-South, the Tigers will continue with American Athletic Conference play when they make the trip down to Houston, Texas to take on the Cougars.

Memphis (13-20, 1-2 AAC) is coming off their opening conference opening series with East Carolina that saw the Tigers take the opening game on Friday night, but ultimately falling to the Pirates in the Saturday and Sunday contests.

Hannah Bassham led the team with a .500 BA against ECU after going 4-8 from the plate with four runs scored. Along with her, fellow teammates Dafne Mercado and Gracie Morton hit over .400 this past weekend (min. 5 AB) while both, along with Kendall Lee, all hit homeruns over the course of the three games.

For the season, Morton leads the team with a .404 BA and 44 hits, which ranks second overall in the AAC and ninth in Division I, while the group of her, Lee, Camryn Wineinger and Taylor Smrt all have a team-leading two homeruns each.

In the pitcher's circle, Hallie Siems leads the team with a 3.06 ERA and six wins. She also leads the team with 74 strikeouts in 98.1 innings of work.

Houston. (17-16-1, 1-1-1 AAC) is coming off a weekend series with Tulsa that saw a split of the first two games while the teams came to a draw in the final match-up due to a drop time for travel.

Becca Schulte leads the team with a .337 batting average with 11 homeruns and 33 RBI. Her .779 slugging percentage ranks fourth in the AAC and she ranks in the top-three in the conference in four other hitting categories.Â

Kenna Wilkey and Hannah Todd have been the go-to's for the Cougars this season in the pitcher's circle; Wilkey leads the group with 66 strikeouts while Todd is sporting a 2.85 ERA in 21 appearances.
