Memphis: 9, SIUE: 10
WP: Brant Glidewell (2-0)
LP: Connor Shamblin (2-1)
SV: Kaid Karnes (1)
How it happened:
- Shamblin had command trouble in the first, as two walks both came around to score and Memphis trailed 2-0 after half an inning
- The Tigers got a run back against Glidewell in the second on an RBI single by 1B Chris Swanberg, and the score remained 2-1 SIUE until the fourth
- In the fourth frame, Shamblin faced six batters but got just one out, as two more walks came around to score and an error led to a 5-1 SIUE advantage
- Memphis answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, as 3B Logan Kohler picked up a solo home run and LF Ian Bibiloni crossed the plate on a groundout by Swanberg
- After Memphis pulled within one on a home run by 2B Austin Baskin in the sixth to trail 5-4, a Tigers error led to four unearned runs in the seventh, three on a home run by CF Brett Johnson, which put SIUE ahead 9-4
- The Cougars added an insurance run in the eighth on a home run by DH Brady Bunten and took a 10-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth
- The first seven Memphis hitters to bat reached safely in the ninth, and the first five came around to score against a trio of SIUE pitchers
- Karnes, the third Cougars pitcher of the final frame, came on with the bases loaded and no outs and the tying run at second base
- Memphis pulled within a run on a deep sacrifice fly from C Tanner Booth, but CF Zach Wilson fouled out before Karnes struck out RF Blake Daniels to close out the 10-9 SIUE win
Notables:
- With a two-hit night, his fourth multi-hit game of the season, Daniels extended his hit streak to 5 games
- SS Ben Brooks had two hits to extend his on-base streak to 15 games, while Baskin's sixth inning home run also extended his on-base streak to 15 games
- With two hits and two RBIs, Kohler picked up his team-best sixth multi-RBI game and team-best eighth multi-hit performance
