LAKE CHARLES, La. – Looking to close out the weekend on a high note, the Tigers faced off against UNLV. Despite getting their offense going late, Memphis was unable to string together a win and suffered the 5-1 loss.

Following today's games, Memphis moves to 5-9 overall.

MEMPHIS: 1, UNLV: 5
How it happened:

UNLV got on the board first in the top of the 3^rd inning when Janyssa Martin hit an RBI double to third base and Ariana Martinez drew a bases loaded walk to make it a 2-0 game.
The Rebels would add two more runs in the top of the 5^th inning to extend their lead out to 4-0.
Kendall Lee would put the Tigers on the board in the bottom of the 6^th inning when she singled to the pitcher and sent Taylor Smrt across home plate to cut Memphis' deficit to 4-1.
While UNLV added in another run in the top of the 7^th inning, the Tigers would be unable to make a comeback in the bottom half of the inning and faced the 5-1 loss.

Notables:

Alyssa Dean led the way for the Tigers with two hits while Lee, Brianna Lucero, Gracie Morton and Taylor Smrt both recorded hits.
Mikayla Hoschak got the start for today going 2.2 innings with one strikeout while Kailey Hilderbrand and Hallie Siemsfinished the remaining 4.1 innings of work.

UP NEXT

The Tigers will host their first of three tournaments in March beginning this Friday. The Blues City Classic runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Tiger Softball Complex.
