LOXLEY, Ala. – The University of Memphis men's golf team began play at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational on Saturday in Loxley, Ala. at Steelwood Country Club. The Tigers sit in ninth place after 36 holes after carding rounds of 296-281 for a total of 577 (+1).
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior James Morgan had the best day of this Memphis career on Saturday, carding rounds of 71 (-1) and 70 (-2) to sit in a tie for 10th place with a total of 141 (-3).
• Morgan's rounds on the day were the two-best of his collegiate career, eclipsing his previous 18-hole best of 72 he set at the Quail Valley/Jake Owen Intercollegiate on Oct. 17, 2021.
• Sophomore Esteban Vazquez continued his great play of late, shooting a score of 143 (-1) to tie for 22nd place after two rounds.
• On the day, Vazquez carded a 72 (E) in the first round and followed with a 71 (-1) in the second.
