Morgan, van der Klis Lead Tigers in First Round of AAC Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's golf team began competition at the 2022 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship on Friday in Brooksville, Fla., shooting a first-round score of 291 (+3) to sit in sixth place.
Houston leads after 18 holes with a total of 278 (-10) at the Southern Hills Golf Club, four strokes better than No. 43-ranked SMU. No. 38 South Florida is in third place with a score of 286 (-2), while both Wichita State and UCF are just one stroke back, tied for fourth.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior James Morgan and sophomore Ryan van der Klis led the way for Memphis in the first round of the AAC Championship, with each carding scores of 72 (E) to sit in a tie for 15th place.
