Tigers start midweek with win

Eight of the Tigers' nine starters in the lineup recorded at least one hit, with four players registering multiple hits. Payton Marshall led all batters with a 3-for-4 outing, including an RBI double in the sixth.
Hunter Goodman, Nick Vaage and Evan Bell drove in multiple runs and each posted an extra-base hit.
On the mound, redshirt junior James Muse registered his first win of the season. The Germantown native faced just two over the minimum and struck out a batter in three innings pitched.
Memphis scored in five of the first six innings, utilizing five straight base runners to regain the lead in the bottom of the first.
Hunter Goodman launched his 11th home run of the season in the second frame, a two-run blast to left-centerfield to highlight a four-run inning.
The Tigers added one run in the third and two more in the fifth inning after an RBI single by Bell and plating a run via an error.
UAPB closed the gap in the latter half of the game, narrowing the Memphis lead to just one run entering the ninth. Takoda Metoxen came in and earned his third save in as many chances, striking out a pair to start off the ninth.
Memphis will return to the diamond Wednesday as the Tigers visit No. 5 Mississippi State. First pitch from Dudy Noble Field is set for 6:30 p.m.
