Baseball hosts UAPB, travels to Mississippi State for midweek tilts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With two weeks remaining in the regular-season, Memphis baseball will take the diamond twice the week, with midweek matchups against Arkansas Pine Bluff and Mississippi State.

Memphis will host Arkansas Pine Bluff on Tuesday at FedExPark, a game that was rescheduled from Mar. 13 due to inclement weather.
The Tigers posted their sixth series victory of the season behind their fourth doubleheader sweep against USF on Sunday. Memphis relied on pitching and defense in Game 1 of the twin bill to earn a 1-0 victory. In Game 2, late offense propelled the Tigers to a 9-3 win.
Behind standout performances this week, Chris Durham and Hunter Goodman were named to the American Athletic Conference 's Weekly Honor Roll. On the mound, Durham scattered three hits across six shutout innings. The lefty struck out seven Bulls and moved to a 4-2 record. Durham tossed three clean innings and retired 17 of the 22 batters he faced.
At the plate, Goodman provided the first game's lone run with his 10th home run of the season. Goodman continued the offensive surge in the second game of the day, going 3-for-5 and recording four RBI. His 57 RBI leads The American.
Arkansas Pine Bluff snapped a 16-game skid after closing its series against Texas Southern with a victory. Nick Kreutzer (.340) and Sergio Esparza (.303) average over .300 hitting for the Lions.
No. 5 Mississippi State took two of three against Texas A&M last weekend to post its sixth win in the last seven games. Five of the Bulldogs' hitters hold a .300-plus average (at least 100 at-bats), while the Mississippi State pitching staff has compiled a 3.37 ERA.
