Memphis visits Ole Miss in midweek action

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis baseball remains on the road for a visit to No. 11 Ole Miss in the second of two meetings with the Rebels this season on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Tigers seek to avenge a 9-6 setback against the Rebels on Mar. 26 at AutoZone Park in Memphis. Overall, the Rebels hold a 59-39 series lead since 1978.
The Tigers are 0-2 against SEC teams this season, previously facing Arkansas on Feb. 27 and the Rebels on Mar. 26. Memphis also plays at Mississippi State on May 8.
Memphis will travel to Oxford after a series defeat at UConn. After splitting the first two games of the series, the home Huskies edged the Tigers late in Sunday's rubber game.
Freshman Hunter Goodman was named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. Goodman hit .538 (7-for-13) in the Tigers' three-game set at UConn. He also plated three runs and tallied four RBI in the series. A 4-for-5 day from the Arlington, Tenn., native helped propel the Tigers to a 7-1 victory on Saturday. Goodman also connected on his fifth homer of the season on Saturday, all of which have come in the last 10 games. His 40 RBI this season rank third in The American.
On the mound, the Tigers enjoyed their best weekend of the season despite the series setback. The pitching staff collectively posted a 1.44 ERA in the three games, allowing just four earned runs throughout the weekend and struck out 19 batters. Memphis' 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings this season ranks 10th nationally.
Following the contest against Ole Miss, the Tigers will return home for a league series against Tulane, which begins Thursday. First pitch from FedExPark on Thursday is set for 6 p.m.
