Memphis set for weekend series at UConn

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Stepping back into league play, Memphis baseball seeks to continue its recent success with a visit to UConn this weekend.
SERIES INFORMATION:
Matchup: Memphis (16-14, 3-3 The American) at UConn (21-12, 5-4 The American)
Dates: Friday, Apr. 12 – 2 p.m. // Saturday, Apr. 13 – 12 p.m. // Sunday, Apr. 14 – 11 a.m.

The Tigers return to conference play after a doubleheader sweep against Southern on Saturday. Memphis used a walk-off to post a 14-12 extra-inning victory in the day's first game. In the nightcap, a pair of five-run innings helped the Tigers secure their fifth series victory in the last six weekends.
Chris Durham tallied the win on the mound in the second game of the twin bill. The junior threw 6.2 innings and registered nine strikeouts to earn a spot on The American's Weekly Honor Roll.
At the dish, freshman Hunter Goodman played heroics in Saturday's walk-off. The rookie connected on his fourth home run of the year, a two-run blast. Goodman leads the Tigers with 36 RBI, which also ranks third in The American.
Senior Hunter Smith, Friday's projected starter against the Huskies, seeks to continue the momentum of a strong outing from a week ago. The Brandon, Miss., native delivered a seven-inning shutout performance in a no-decision against Southern on Friday. Smith ranks second in the league with 54 strikeouts.
UConn won a pair of midweek matchups against Bryant and Northeastern to return to the win column. Previously, the Huskies dropped two of three against Cincinnati over the weekend.
The Huskies lead the all-time series by a 15-6 advantage. The Tigers are in search of their first series win since 2015.
