The Tigers win fifth-straight with 5-4 victory over DePaul
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis head coach Natalie Poole earned her 500th career victory in the Tigers 5-4 win over DePaul Friday evening at the UofM Softball Tournament. The Tigers rallied with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to win their fifth straight contest and improve to 10-9 on the year.
Â
The contest against the Blue Demons wasn't without theatrics as Memphis threw two base runners out at home and hit back-to-back home runs to regain the lead.Â
Â
Memphis started the game off with one run in the first to take an early lead. DePaul promptly had an answer for Memphis' first inning tally and tied the contest up in the top of the second.
Â
Runs in the top of the fourth and top of the fifth, including a solo home run to lead-off the fourth put the Blue Demons ahead of Memphis, 3-1.
Â
Four runs on four hits all with two outs including back-to-back home runs by Ryleigh Aungst and Regan Hadley propelled Memphis ahead, 5-3. The back-to-back home runs marked the second time this season Aungst and Hadley had homered in the same game. It was also the third multi-home run game for Memphis.
Â
A pair of walks combined with a single to left field sparked an attempted comeback for DePaul, but a six-pitch strikeout by Bayleigh Wisher with two outs put the Blue Demons at bay.
Â
