Baseball begins road trip with visit to Lipscomb

Tigers, Bison set to meet for first time since 2001
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the first time since 2001, in-state foes meet on the diamond as Memphis baseball travels to Lipscomb for a Wednesday afternoon contest.
SERIES INFORMATION:
Matchup: Memphis (4-6) at Lipscomb (4-5)
Date: Wednesday, Mar. 6 – 2 p.m.

In their most recent outing, the Tigers took a series against Middle Tennessee, highlighted with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Memphis enjoyed an offensive surge in Saturday's twin bill, plating 15 runs on 22 hits. Colton Neel, who was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll, hit .400 in the series and added three RBI. The senior also recorded his first career save.
At the plate, Memphis is tied for the league lead with 25 doubles, which also ranks 28th nationally. Freshman Hunter Goodman is second the conference with six doubles.
On the mound, Memphis stands third in strikeouts (110) and fourth in ERA (4.10). The squad's 11 strikeouts-per-nine-innings mark also ranks 21st in the nation.
Following a 4-2 start, Lipscomb dropped to 4-5 overall after getting swept by Xavier. Maddux Houghton leads the Bison with a .433 average, while Chris Bashlor is hitting .414 and has collected a team-best 11 RBI.
Memphis will remain on the road following Wednesday's meeting for a weekend series at WKU in Bowling Green, Ky.
