Tigers host Mississippi Valley State, Arkansas Pine Bluff in midweek action

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – To kick off a five-game home stand, Memphis baseball welcomes a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference programs to FedExPark as the Tigers host Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Pine Bluff on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

The Tigers return to Memphis following a sweep at WKU this past weekend. The three wins marked the first time since 2012 Memphis swept a road series and first time on the road in non-conference play since 2004.
The Memphis offense exploded for 31 runs on 40 hits in the three-game set at WKU. Helping pace the offense, freshman Hunter Goodman was tabbed to The American's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The rookie hit .429 in four games last week with three RBI, two doubles and plated six runs.
On the mound, the Tiger bullpen continued to prove itself. In four games, the bullpen surrendered only three earned runs in 17 innings of work while striking out 20.
The Tigers are a collective 24-1 all-time against members of the SWAC, including a 7-1 mark against Mississippi Valley State and 7-0 record against Arkansas Pine Bluff. Following this week's action, Memphis will remain at home for a series against UNC Wilmington beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
