Tigers travel to Arkansas for midweek clash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For its first road trip of 2019, the Memphis baseball team continues a familiar SEC rivalry as the Tigers travel to play the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark. First pitch from Baum-Walker Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

During a rain-soaked weekend, the Tigers (2-4) split a doubleheader against Southern Illinois on Sunday in their last outing. Senior LHP Hunter Smith registered his first win of the young season on the mound in Game 1. Smith limited the Salukis to three hits in 6.1 innings pitched and tied a career high with seven strikeouts.
At the plate, freshman Hunter Goodman continued to swing a hot bat. The Arlington, Tenn., product went 3-for-4 in Game 1 with a pair of doubles and plated two runs. In the night cap, sophomore Ben Brooks enjoyed a 3-for-4 outing as well with a run scored.
Arkansas (5-1) began the season with a three-game sweep against Eastern Illinois before taking two out of three against USC last weekend. The Razorbacks claimed wins against the Trojans on Thursday and Friday before dropping an extra-inning bout to close the series.
Arkansas leads the all-time series, while the Tigers are looking for their first win against the Razorbacks since 2015.
