Big Fourth Inning Dooms Tigers

Cincinnati scores six runs in the fourth to win 7-2
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Cincinnati scored six unearned runs in the fourth inning and knocked off Memphis 7-2 to win the series Saturday at Marge Schott Stadium. The Tigers (9-22, 1-7 American) will try to salvage the series against the Bearcats Sunday at noon (CT).
The Bearcats scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead but the Tigers answered in the top of the fourth to tie the game up.
Alec Trela and Tyler Webb both hit one-out singles for the Tigers' first hits of the game. With two outs, Colton Neel delivered a single up the middle to score Trela from second base and make the score 1-1.
After giving up the first-inning run, Jonathan Bowlan rebounded nicely and retired nine-straight Cincinnati batters. But in the fourth inning the Bearcats touched him up for six unearned runs to retake the lead, 7-1.
Bowlan went on to pitch seven innings with seven strikeouts and just one walk. All seven runs were unearned.
Memphis trimmed the lead to 7-2 with a run in the eighth inning. Jason Santana doubled to left-center to drive in Webb.
Takoda Metoxen pitched a scoreless eighth inning in relief with a strikeout.
