This is the fifth-consecutive season that the Tigers travel to Cincinnati for a weekend series. Last season at Marge Schott Stadium, Memphis recorded its first series win over the Bearcats since 2004.
The Bearcats have been a thorn in the Tigers' side for the last several seasons. The teams have played 23 times since 2014 and Memphis has produced just a 10-13 record against Cincinnati, with only one series win. The Tigers have been responsible for ending the Bearcats' season twice during that stretch though, with wins in conference tournament elimination games in 2015 and 2017.
The Tigers had all three starting pitchers record quality starts for the firs time this season last weekend against UCF. Alex Hicks had a bounce-back performance, striking out a career-high nine batters in six innings. Riley Cabral picked up the only win of the weekend with six scoreless innings and a career-high nine strikeouts. Jonathan Bowlan pitched 6 2/3 with 10 strikeouts and just two runs allowed.
The Tigers leading hitter, senior outfielder Tyler Webb enters the weekend on a five-game hitting streak and is fourth in the NCAA with 14 doubles. Webb is batting .336 with a team-high 19 runs scored.
Cincinnati is 12-14 this season and 3-3 in American Athletic Conference play after a series win over Houston. The Bearcats are batting .245 as a team and have a 3.42 ERA as a pitching staff.
