Memphis and USF meet for the fifth-consecutive season as members of the American Athletic Conference. The Tigers have a 9-7 record against the Bulls during that stretch, with series wins in 2015 and 2016. USF leads the all-time series 27-19, dating back to 1996.

The Tigers also were the team to eliminate the Bulls from the American Athletic Conference tournament three-straight seasons in 2014-16. The teams did not play in the American Tournament last season.

USF features one of the best pitching staffs in the American Athletic Conference and the nation. The Bulls have a 3.10 ERA and are seventh in the NCAA with 10.3 strikeouts per-game. USF's 416 strikeouts are the most in the American this season.

Alec Trela hit his first career grand slam and drove in a career-high five runs to lead Memphis to a 10-6 win over Murray State Tuesday. The multiple-RBI game for Trela was the 14th in his two-year career. The Tigers' last grand slam was just over a year ago, by Chris Carrier against Houston (4/15/17).

Memphis head coach Daron Schoenrock picked up a milestone victory with the April 18 win over Mississippi State. The win was the 400th of his career.

The weather has consistently impacted the Tigers' weekend schedule at FedExPark this season. Memphis has been forced to adjust start times in five-of-six series and has played four weekend doubleheaders. The Tigers have also had to adjust on the road, with several changes to the Tri-Star Classic schedule as well as a time change at Cincinnati.

With back-to-back wins over Arkansas State, April 10-11, Memphis has only won two-straight games on three occasions this season. This is the first time since 2005 that the Tigers have failed to win at least three-straight games during the first nine weeks of the season. The 2005 team went the entire season without a winning streak.

The Tigers leading hitter, senior outfielder Tyler Webb is tied for 17th in the NCAA with 16 doubles. Webb is batting .302 with a team-high 22 runs scored. His 19 RBI are the third-most on the team.

Memphis has suffered a number of narrow defeats this season, with 17 losses by three runs or less. The Tigers have six one-run losses, seven two-run losses and four three-run losses.
