Memphis Baseball Travels To Murray State Tuesday

Tigers start four-game road swing with trip to Murray State
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball teams starts a four-game road swing with a trip to Murray, Ky. to take on Murray State Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Johnny Reagan Field.

The Tigers (13-28) and Racers (17-22) meet for the third consecutive season and the seventh time since 2010. Memphis owns a 5-1 record against Murray State since 2010 and a 42-23 record against the Racers since 1978.
Memphis is looking to bounce back after being swept by No. 11 ECU last weekend. The Tigers have recent success in their midweek games, winning three-straight. Two weeks ago, Memphis beat Arkansas State twice before taking down Mississippi State last week.
Tyler Webb has been the Tigers' leading hitter all season and currently has a .303 batting average. His 16 doubles and 20 runs scored lead the team. His 19 RBI are the third-most on the Tigers roster.
Connor Alexander will make a third-consecutive midweek start on the mound. In Alexander's last two starts he has earned the win. Against Arkansas State (4/11) he pitched five innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits. In the Tigers win over Mississippi State (4/18), he pitched six innings and allowed just one run on four hits.
Murray State has lost eight-straight games, including back-to-back sweeps in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Racers' last four losses have come by three runs or less.
The Racers are batting .269 as a team with four regular starts batting over .300. The team's leading hitter is Davis Sims with a .359 average, 22 doubles, 39 RBI and 32 run scored.
Murray State's pitching staff has been the team's weakness with a 7.17 staff ERA and an opponent's batting average of .308.
