Softball Drops Game One To USF Thursday Evening

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team fell to USF Thursday evening by a score of 4-1 in the first home conference game of the 2018 season. Memphis falls to 25-9 on the year and 2-2 in American Athletic Conference play.
The Tigers took an early lead over the visiting Bulls due to back-to-back hits by Baylee Smith and Ashley Threatt in the bottom of the first inning. USF hit the first of two home runs as an answer in the top half of the second to tie the contest up at 1-1.
Two scoreless innings passed before the Bulls recorded their second home run of the game, a three-run shot, to take a 4-1 lead over the Tigers.
Memphis threatened in the bottom of the fifth, but was unable to advance a runner beyond second base. Molly Smith was handed the loss against the Bulls and falls to 14-4 on the year.
