Softball Welcomes USF For First Home Conference Series

It is the first of three home conference bouts for the Tigers
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team remains at the Tigers Softball Complex this weekend to host USF in the first home conference series of the 2018 season. The series runs Thursday through Saturday with game one Thursday starting at 5 p.m. CT.

- For the first time under the direction of head coach Natalie Poole, Memphis is receiving votes in both the NFCA Coaches Top 25 Poll and the USA Softball Top 25 Poll. The Tigers have won the last three straight games and own a 25-8 record, the best start in program history. Â
- In conference play, Memphis is 2-1 and sitting in third place. The Tigers took two out of three at Wichita State last weekend, which marked the first two home losses for the Shockers this season. Â
- Baylee Smith continues to lead Memphis with a .447 batting average while Kyler Trosclair Klatt ranks first on the team and third in the nation with 51 hits.
- Molly Smith and Mariah Nichols collected wins on Tuesday evening to put their season records at 14-3 and 10-4, respectively. Smith ranks 11th in the nation with 143 strikeouts.
- With 13 drawn walks in Tuesday's doubleheader, the Memphis lineup has more drawn walks than strikeouts recorded.
- The Tigers are hitting .338 as a team, which ranks ninth in the nation. Memphis also leads the league in stolen bases with 67 swipes.
About the Competition
- USF opened the conference season off with a 3-0 sweep against UConn. Overall, the Bulls are 25-13 on the year.
- Twenty-two games have been at home for USF with only three true road games to-date. The Bulls have yet to win a road contest.
- As a team, USF is hitting .305 with a league-leading 31 home runs. The Bulls are also quick on the base paths with 44 stolen bases.
- Lindsey Devitt leads the team offensively with a .396 batting average. Eight players are hitting over .300 for USF.
- Ken Eriksen is the head coach of the Bulls and is currently in his 22nd season at the helm. He has won 921 career games as the head coach of USF.
