UofM ends first day of the event in a three-way tie for seventh
VERO BEACH, Fla. – Senior Bradley Bawden fired a 4-under 68 in the opening round of the Quail Valley Intercollegiate to help the University of Memphis to end the first day of the three-day event in a tie for seventh.
The Tigers shots 4-over 292 to tie Little Rock and Jacksonville. Memphis enters Day 2 of the Quail Valley Intercollegiate 13 strokes behind leader Arkansas State. ASU shot 9-under 279, one stroke better than North Florida. USF, the only other American Athletic Conference program in the 16-team event, is in third place at 5-under 283.
In addition to Bawden, the Tigers got a strong effort from junior Isaiah Jackson, who shot 1-under 71. Bawden and Jackson were the only Tigers to finish under par Sunday.
Also competing for the UofM was Rodi Vlasveld (76), Chase Harris (77) and Jordan Event (80).
Memphis is participating in its fourth event of the fall season. The Tigers finished 12th at last weekend's Intercollegiate at The Grove in College Grove, Tenn. Their best result came in their home event when they finished as runner-up to Chattanooga in the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club.
