AIKEN, S.C. – For a third straight week the University of Memphis men's golf team will compete in the Palmetto State, this time participating in the 22nd Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event featuring 18 teams will be played March 11 and 12 at Palmetto Golf Club.
The Tigers are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Colleton River Collegiate last weekend, at Bluffton, S.C., a week after finishing third at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at Hilton Head, S.C.
Virginia is the event's defending champion.
Memphis opened the spring season with a solid result. The Tigers were led by Bradley Bawden, who was medalist at the Wexford Intercollegiate.
At the Wexford, Bawden shot 4-under 212, giving the UofM medalists in back-to-back events. Isaiah Jackson, who tied for eighth at the Wexford Intercollegiate, was medalist at the team's final fall event, the East Bay Deli Classic in South Carolina.
Behind Bawden and Jackson, the Tigers placed third in the 19-team event. Last weekend, they placed sixth in a 14-team field.
