Memphis plays single game vs. Bears and doubleheader vs. Governors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team will take a break in the conference schedule to play three midweek games at the Tigers Softball Complex this week. On Tuesday, the Tigers host Central Arkansas in a single game and on Wednesday, Austin Peay comes to town for a doubleheader.

First pitch against the Bears Tuesday afternoon is set for 5 p.m. First pitch in game one against Austin Peay is set for 3 p.m.

Quick Hitters

Memphis is coming off of a series victory this past weekend over East Carolina. The Tigers won games one and two before falling in the series finale to East Carolina.
Lindsay Crowdus was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career. She was also the first Tiger to earn the Player of the Week nod this season. Molly Smith was named to the American Weekly Honor Roll and she is the program's only Pitcher of the Week this season.
Memphis is 17-13 overall and 13-5 at the Tigers Softball Complex.
Head coach Natalie Poole is in her sixth season at the helm of the Memphis program.

A Look At The Competition

Central Arkansas comes into the single midweek game with a 12-22 overall record. The Bears are a member of the Southland Conference and are 3-6 in conference play.
Kaylyn Shepherd leads the team with a .358 batting average in 81 plate appearances. Briana Whisenhunt has a team-high 35 hits including three triples.
Kayla Gomness has spent the majority of the time in the circle for the Bears with 102.0 innings pitched. She has a 3.02 ERA with a team-high 50 strikeouts.
Austin Peay is 11-17 overall and as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, is 1-3 in conference play.
Danielle Liermann and Carly Mattson lead the team offensively with a combined 63 hits. They also combine for 16 of the team's 30 home runs.
Autumn Hanners and Kelsey Gross spend most of the time in the circle for the Govs. Gross is 7-5 overall and Hanners leads the team with a 3.93 ERA.
