Tigers Host East Carolina To Begin Conference Play Friday

Memphis picked to finish fifth, East Carolina seventh in The American Preseason Poll
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team has the opportunity this weekend to open up conference play at the Tigers Softball Complex. Memphis welcomes East Carolina for the first American series of the season, with single games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. First pitch against the Pirates on Friday is at 5 p.m.

- The Tigers come into the weekend with a 15-12 overall record after falling to Belmont in extras Wednesday evening in Nashville.
- Several Tigers are approaching career milestones including Hannah Harrell and Kyler Trosclair in stolen bases. Harrell is two and Trosclair three off the program record of 57 stolen bases in a career.
- Trosclair is also six swipes shy of matching Harrell's program record of 27 in a season.
- Lindsay Crowdus continues to lead the Tigers offensively after racking up two hits against Belmont. She's also a perfect 18-for-18 in stolen bases this season.
- Crowdus sits 11 hits away from tying the all-time career record for hits.
- As a team, Memphis has stolen 69 bases, putting the team just 20 shy of the program record set in 2016 of 89.
- Collectively as a pitching staff, the Tigers have a 3.24 team ERA. Molly Smith leads the way with a 2.31 ERA in a team-high 63.2 innings pitched.
- Head coach Natalie Poole has led Memphis for six seasons. The Tigers were selected to finish fifth in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll.

- East Carolina opens up conference play with a 16-14 overall record. The Pirates were picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll.
- Ali Ramirez leads the team offensively with a .360 batting average and 27 hits. She is among seven Pirates who have tallied at least 20 hits.
- As a team, East Carolina has hit 40 home runs. They have given up 20 as a staff.
- Alex Mycek and Meredith Burroughs lead the team with 10 home runs apiece.
- The Pirates have a team ERA of 4.95 with 126 strikeouts. Six different players have seen action in the circle with Lydia Ritchie leading the way with 81.0 innings pitched.
- Mary Williams has struck out a team-high 61 batters.
