Memphis will look to stay hot against Georgia Southern
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis will look to keep its winning streak alive as the Tigers host Georgia Southern for a three-game weekend series at FedExPark. The Tigers have won four straight games, including an exciting 9-6 win over No. 8 Ole Miss on the road.
The Tigers will be trying to avenge a series loss to the Georgia Southern Eagles from a year ago in Statesboro, Ga. There will be a lot of familiarity between the opponents as each team returns numerous starters in the field and on the mound.

• Memphis welcomes Georgia Southern to FedExPark after the Tigers traveled to Statesboro, Ga. last season for a three-game series. The Tigers salvaged the series by winning the final game on Sunday.
• Georgia Southern had an offensive explosion in a 14-7 midweek win over College of Charleston Wednesday. The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and a held a 13-0 lead midway through the game.
• The Tigers come into the weekend after an exciting 9-6 win over No. 8 Ole Miss in Oxford. Memphis trailed in the early innings, marking the fourth come-from-behind win this season for the Tigers.
• Memphis was hit five times by Ole Miss pitching Tuesday night, just two HBPs shy of the school single-game record set against South Florida in 1998. Three of the five hit batters ended up scoring during the game.
• Memphis swept Illinois State in a three-game series last weekend, marking the Tigers first sweep since the second weekend of last season against SIU Edwardsville.
• As part of the sweep of the Redbirds, Memphis rallied from an 11-0 deficit to win 12-11 in extra innings during the second game of the series on Feb. 25. The comeback win is the largest in the Daron Schoenrock era of Memphis baseball.
• Memphis hitters took a patient approach throughout the series with Illinois State, working a total of 21 walks during the weekend. The Tigers were also hit by pitch three times. In contrast, the Tigers only took five walks in the series against Tennessee.
• The Tiger bullpen has been strong so far this season, posting a 2.76 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched. Colton Hathcock has recorded three straight saves and hasn't allowed a run in those outings. Jonathan Bowlan and James Muse each had lengthy scoreless relief outings last weekend despite allowing runs to Ole Miss.
• Junior right-handed pitcher Connor Alexander had a bounce-back performance against Illinois State, pitching seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts to earn American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll recognition.
• Alexander is the second Memphis pitcher to be named to the league's weekly honor roll after left-hander Drew Crosby received the recognition after a six-inning start and win against Tennessee on opening weekend
• Memphis had a record-setting opening weekend against Tennessee at FedExPark. The two teams squared off Sunday in front of the largest crowd in FedExPark history of 2,188. The three-game series set another facility record, attracting 4,793 fans throughout the weekend.
