Tigers looking for important conference road win.
MEMPHIS – The No. 23 ranked University of Memphis men's tennis team (7-4, 1-0 American) is back on the road for one match that will also be a foray back in to conference play, Sunday. The Tigers are in New Orleans and will face No. 35 ranked Tulane at 1 p.m.
The visit to Tulane will be a chance for one of the Tigers to face the country's top-ranked singles player as Tulane's Dominik Koepfer is currently carrying a 13-match winning streak in to Sunday's contest and atop the ITA singles rankings. Koepfer is 8-0 at one singles for Tulane and is teaming with Chi-Shan Jao for an 8-1 mark at one doubles. That duo is currently ranked No. 27 in the country.
Memphis is looking to snap a two-match losing streak. Memphis fell 4-0 at Baylor, now No. 14, and at No. 13 Oklahoma. The two losses marked the first time in dual season play that Memphis lost the doubles point in back-to-back matches. In three of Memphis' four losses, they have lost the doubles point, including the match at Baylor that included a doubles point decided in a tiebreaker.
The conference match will be the second of the season for the Tigers, who won 4-2 at No. 60 SMU to start the three-match road trip last week. It will be an important match as both teams are looking for a seeding edge for the American Athletic Conference tournament, which will be hosted by Memphis Apr. 21-24th at MUS.
