Men’s Tennis Falls at #35 Tulane

Tigers fall to 8-4 on the year.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis men's tennis team (8-4, 1-1 American) tangled with conference foe Tulane (9-3, 1-0 American) on the road in New Orleans, but fell 7-0.
 
The two teams split two and three doubles to put the fate of the doubles point on the match at number one where the Memphis team of Kai Lemke and Louis Asser were facing the No. 27 ranked doubles team in the country of Dominik Koepfer and Chi-Shan Jao. The match was a fight all the way to a tiebreaker, before the Tulane team prevailed 7-6 in the tiebreaker.
 
Tulane then went up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 win at number six and the battle between Andrew Watson and Koepfer, the No. 1 ranked singles player in the country, went all the way to the bring of a tiebreak before Koepfer made it 3-0 with a 7-5, 7-5 win at one singles.
 
The deciding point came at number two, where Ryan Peniston came back from a 6-4 first set loss to win the second set 6-0, but Tulane prevailed 6-4 in the third set for the victory.
