Final round slated for Tuesday at The Club at Olde Stone
While three teams will still have to conclude their second round of play Tuesday morning, the Memphis men's golf team wrapped up Round Two and concluded Monday's play with a two-stroke lead over the field at the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational.
Through two rounds of play, the Tigers are at +7 for the tournament but coming off a one-under round of 287. Memphis shot a 296 earlier in the day and through two rounds has carded a 583.
Tennessee Tech is currently in second place at +9 with its top two golfers still needing to finish their final hole of the second round.
Memphis senior Thomas Perrot birdied the final two holes of play as darkness fell on The Club at Olde Stone on Monday, and with a second-round 69, will begin Tuesday's final round a stroke off the individual lead held by Arkansas State's Andrew Huseman.
Perrot has a two-round score of 141 (-3) heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Memphis' Lars van Meijel will also begin play in contention after also carding a second-round 69. The junior is two strokes back of the lead after a two-round score of 142 (-2). Competing as part of Memphis' five-player team for the first time this season, sophomore Kevin Lee shot an opening-round 73 and is currently tied for 26th at the tournament with a two-round score of 151 (+7).
Tennessee Tech's Matthew Giles is two-under for his second round with his final hole to play and is currently tied with Perrot for second.
Teams will be repaired following the conclusion of the second round early Tuesday morning. The Tigers are likely to be paired with Tennessee Tech and Arkansas State, which is in third place and seven strokes back of Memphis.
