SMU's defense made 11 total blocks and held Memphis to .009 hitting percentage to claim a sweep of the Tigers Saturday night in Conference USA competition.
The Tigers got a double-double of 22 assists and 10 digs from Christine Bach, while Maja Jovanovic paced the offense with 10 kills. Bach had two kills and was the lone Tiger attacker to hit over .200 for the match.
Becky Shaffer picked up nine digs for the Memphis defense, which held SMU to a .144 attack percentage in the contest. Bach, Casey Sines, Lauren Thompson and Rebekah Strickland all recorded solo blocks for the Tigers.
Dana Powell's 14 kills and 11 digs led the Mustangs to their fifth win in six matches. Setter Kelli Becerra handed out a match-high 31 assists.
Sidney Stewart led all players with 17 digs and Courtney Manning made six total blocks.
Memphis will continue its four-match road swing next weekend when it travels to UTEP and Tulane for a pair of C-USA tilts on October 23 and 25, respectively.
