Apr 23, 2026 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team hosts Florida Atlantic for senior day weekend at Tigers Softball Complex.
Game times are set for 5 p.m., 2 p.m. and noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Matt Infield will have the call for game one, with Tyler Springs on play-by-play for Saturday and Sunday.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (17-33, 5-16 American) most recently fell in a midweek doubleheader at Middle Tennessee in a pair of one-score games.
Memphis' offense tallied seven extra-base hits during the Wednesday doubleheader as the Tigers continue to display power compared to the first team of the Prater era. Ariel Davis (.366 AVG) and Neely Taylor (.298 AVG) both reached 10 doubles on the year, while Faith Brown (.369 AVG) reestablished herself as Memphis' home runs leader with her eighth of the year. Brown also put herself into the top-six in single-season RBI, sitting at 36 with six games left in the regular season.
Reigning American Conference Pitcher of the Week Avery Stutts continues to carry the load in the circle for the Tigers, sitting just shy of the century mark in innings pitched with 97.1. She leads Memphis in ERA (5.83), wins (6), saves (2), appearances (33), starts (13) and strikeouts (46). Memphis' other qualified pitcher is fellow freshman Taylor Caton, who has 39 strikeouts over 51.1 innings pitched.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Preseason conference favorite Florida Atlantic (29-17, 10-11 American) enters the series tied for fifth in the American Conference after taking a series against Tulsa this past weekend.
Five qualified hitters for the Owls sit above the .300 mark on the season, led by Jesiana Mora. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the conference currently holds a .393 batting average with 12 doubles, seven home runs and a team-best 35 RBI. Kylie Hammonds and Bella Foran have averages above .370, while Chloe Yeatts is the only other Owls hitter with 30 or more RBI on the year.
Reigning All-American, Autumn Courtney, has tossed 45 percent of Florida Atlantic's innings in her second season with the program, currently sitting at 39 wins as an Owl. Her 15 wins, 2.43 ERA and 101 strikeouts all lead Florida Atlantic. Ainsley Lambert has been a somewhat rare case of a traditional closer in college softball. The active Division I saves leader has six so far in her redshirt senior campaign after posting save totals of 11 and eight over the previous two seasons, while carrying a 2.78 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY VS. FLORIDA ATLANTIC
Memphis is winless in seven contests against the Owls. Last season, Memphis was swept in Boca Raton with two games being losses by run rule.
