MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a successful collegiate career, Lindy Milkowski was announced as an assistant coach for the Memphis softball program, head coach Trena Prater announced Wednesday afternoon.
"Hiring Coach Milkowski is going to bring a lot of depth to my coaching staff offensively and defensively," head coach Trena Prater said. "She has a high softball IQ and was an elite catcher and power hitter in college. I am excited for her to grow under my leadership, and it will be great to be around her positive energy daily. She is a true competitor and I believe that the girls will be able to relate to her and develop with her coaching style."
Milkowski joins the staff after spending her senior season in 2025 at BYU. Prior to her final collegiate season, she had also spent three years at Eastern Illinois after spending her freshman season with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where she was coached by Trena Prater.
"I am so excited to be a part of this staff," said Milkowski. "They have a wealth of knowledge, and I want to learn all I can. I want to help develop the girls and this program to the potential I know that it can be, which is great."
Milkowski's career culminated in a final season at BYU where she hit .346 in 49 games played, slugging 18 home runs while also throwing out 17 of 18 runners from behind the plate. She was selected to the All-Big 12 First Team and NFCA All-Mountain Region Second Team in 2025.
Her time at Eastern Illinois as a player was highlighted by an Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championship in 2023. That same season, she was also named to the College Sports Communicators All-District Team, All-OVC Second Team and received the OVC Academic Medal of Honor. Her first season as a Panther in 2022 saw her be named to the All-OVC First Team and Newcomer Team, while also being honored as an NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar Athlete. Milkowski tallied 26 doubles, 23 home runs and 93 RBI while at Eastern Illinois.
Her first collegiate season was spent at Iowa, where she was coached by current Memphis softball head coach Trena Prater. She becomes the second member of the staff to have played under Prater, as director of operations Cassady Brewer also played for Prater in 2018 at UCF.
Milkowski is the daughter of Joy Milkowski, who spent the 2025 season with Memphis as an assistant coach.
