Memphis has caught fire early in the season, sweeping the competition during the 901 Classic and finding itself with a 5-0 record on the young season.
At the plate, the Tigers have seen production from a variety of sources. Outfielder Neely Taylor currently leads the team in batting average (.643), doubles (3) and is tied for the lead in hits (9). Zoe Adebayo has shown power in the box, currently leading Memphis in slugging percentage (1.231), OPS (1.856), home runs (2), RBIs (11) and is tied for the team-lead in triples (1).
Kennedy Semien, Taniyah Brown and McKaylee Polk have also stepped up to product for the Tigers offense. The trio has combined for 24 hits, six extra-base hits, 16 runs scored and 14 RBIs. Of the qualifying players (2 plate appearances per game and 75% of games played), eight Tigers currently hold a batting average of at least .300.
The Tigers have had a strong, balanced approach in the circle, led by Taniyah Brown and Rylee Dugar. Brown and Dugar are both 2-0 on the season and have at least 10 innings pitched. Dugar currently leads the staff in ERA (0.70) and strikeouts (9), while Brown leads Memphis in complete games (2), innings pitched (14.2) and appearances (3).
Taniyah Brown was also named an honorable mention in the American Athletic Conference's weekly honors after her performances in the 901 Classic.
