Tigers Set to Host No. 13/16 Ole Miss, ETSU
Nov 17, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball plays two home games this week at Elma Roane Fieldhouse, beginning with No. 13/16 Ole Miss on Tuesday, November 18, at 7 p.m. ETSU will come to Memphis on Saturday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m.
Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+. After a two-game winning streak away from home, the Tigers (2-2) are looking for their first win in Memphis after falling to Ball State. Senior Chaé Harris leads the conference with 18.8 points a game and is second in three-pointers made (13).
Game One: Ole Miss
The No. 13/16 Rebels will come to town for the first time since December 2009. The last Rebels-Tigers game was a thriller in Memphis, where Ole Miss connected on a three-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining to win, 73-72. The Rebels lead the all-time series, 28-9, thanks to a perfect 16-0 record in Oxford. The last Memphis win was Nov. 29, 2003, a 69-63 contest.
The Tigers will have an opportunity to beat a top-25 team for the first time since 2017, when they defeated No. 20 USF, 62-57. Since then, it has been 13 consecutive losses to nationally ranked competition.
Ole Miss is coached by Yolett McPhee-McCuin, in her seventh season in charge of the Rebels. They have won 20 games and reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last four seasons. They were picked to finish sixth in the SEC, and Cotie McMahon was named to the Preseason Second Team.
McMahon is second on the team with 17 points per game, barely behind senior forward Christeen Iwuala. They rank 18th in the country with 88 points per game and are beating opponents by an average of 43.3 points per game.
Game Two: ETSU
ETSU will visit the Bluff City for the ninth-ever matchup between the two Tennessee schools. Tied at four wins a piece, neither team has ever won two in a row or won on the road. Last year in Johnson City, the Tigers stormed back from down 19 at halftime to tie the game entering the fourth quarter, but ETSU would take the victory, 78-71.
The Buccaneers (1-3) picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon against Claflin, a convincing 69-31 victory. They will have another opportunity for a win in Cookeville Thursday night against Tennessee Tech. Yet to leave the Tri-Star State, they have played three home games and one in Knoxville against Tennessee. Saturday's game will be the second of five consecutive road games.
Brenda Mock Brown is in her fourth season as head coach of ETSU. She spent eight years prior leading UNC-Asheville. Led by Sabreya Montesanto, who averages more than five free throw attempts per game, the Bucs get to the charity stripe 21.2 times per game.
