Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis head volleyball coach Sean Burdette and staff have announced the upcoming 2024 schedule.

"We are very excited to release our 2024 schedule that features some great matchups against multiple NCAA and NIVC participant teams from last season, as well as hosting our inaugural Carrie Yerty Classic, named in honor of former Tiger great and the all-time winningest head coach in program history," Burdette said. "We've set up a challenging non-conference schedule that will prepare us for AAC play that includes opponents from the SEC, Big 12, Big Sky, OVC and Missouri Valley. We are also excited to welcome back the AAC Championship Tournament at the end of the season."

After an exhibition against Mississippi State on Aug. 24, Memphis will open the season with Carrie Yerty Classic on August 30 when it plays host to Mississippi Valley State and Tennessee Tech before welcoming Austin Peay to the Larry O. Finch Center on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will hit the road for the first time the following weekend when they take part in the Southern Illinois Tournament.

The Tigers return to the Mid-South for their annual Bluff City Showdown with matches against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Lamar and Indiana State Sept. 12-14. Their final tune-up before American Athletic Conference play will be in Phoenix, Ariz. when they play in the Sun Devil Volleyball Classic hosted by Arizona State on Sept. 19 and 20.

AAC play will begin on Sept. 25 with Memphis hosting Wichita State.

This will be the first season since the 2020 (played in spring of 2021) season that the AAC will host a volleyball championship.
