Tigers Drop Finale, Series to Florida Atlantic at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field
Mar 30, 2024 | Baseball
The Tigers dropped to 13-17 overall (2-4 AAC) with the loss as the Owls improved to 16-9 (4-2 AAC) on the year.
"When you walk 10 and have non-competitive at-bats with runners in scoring position, it makes it difficult to win a series," head coach Matt Riser said. "Give credit to FAU. They did a good job once we were down and out of kicking us while we were down, which is what a good team does."
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Daunte Stuart put the Tigers on the board with a two-run double to left-center field in the bottom of the first to give Memphis an early 2-0 lead.
• The Owls clawed back for a run in the top of the second on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Brandon Loreaux to make the score 2-1, Tigers. Florida Atlantic tied the game on another two-out RBI single by Emilio Gonzalez in the top of the fourth inning.
• Tiger starter Caden Robinson induced a two-pitch fly out to left field to begin the fifth inning before a trio of walks loaded the bases for the Owls, prompting a change on the mound for Memphis as they moved to Cade Davis. A two-run double, a three-run home run and a solo home run made the score 8-2, Owls.
• Memphis responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Jacob Comptonto trim the deficit to five.
• Florida Atlantic plated its ninth run of the afternoon on a two-out single in the top of the seventh by Andrew McKenna and poured on five more runs in the top of the ninth to extend its lead to 14-3, which proved to be final.

• Stuart went 1-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI, also scoring a run.
• Compton ended the game 1-for-4 with an RBI single to give him 30 for the season.
